Radix ILS Expands Bermuda Team with Key Underwriting and Actuarial Hires

Radix Insurance Linked Strategies (Radix ILS), a newly established Bermuda-based third-party capital manager and tech-driven reinsurance capacity deployment firm, has strengthened its team with two strategic hires. These additions bring underwriting and actuarial expertise across property, retrocession, and industry-loss warranty (ILW) instruments.

Founded in 2025, Radix ILS adopts a digital-first model to connect partner capital with insurance and reinsurance returns, facilitating direct investment in insurance-linked risks while optimizing capital allocation. The company recently launched Radix Alpha Ltd., its first underwriting vehicle, registered as a Bermuda-based collateralized insurer.

As part of its expansion, Radix ILS has welcomed Rachel Barnes Binnie, formerly a VP and retrocession-focused reinsurance broker at Aon. The company highlighted her decade of experience in property reinsurance and her extensive network spanning insurers, brokers, and capital providers. Before joining Aon, Barnes Binnie spent nearly six years at Hamilton as a catastrophe modeling analyst and property reinsurance underwriter.

Additionally, Radix ILS has recruited Gordon Jin, an actuary with specialized knowledge of the retrocession and ILW markets. Jin, who previously served as VP – Retro/ILW Actuary at Aon, brings over a decade of industry experience, including roles at Guy Carpenter in Shanghai and Willis Towers Watson in Toronto. His analytical expertise and international perspective will play a crucial role in Radix ILS’s operations.

Both hires enhance Radix ILS’s capabilities in property catastrophe reinsurance, retrocession, and ILS market trading, particularly in structuring and arranging ILW transactions. CEO Hanni Ali expressed enthusiasm for their addition, emphasizing that their skills in broking, underwriting, and actuarial science align perfectly with the company’s vision of leveraging technology to address complex reinsurance placements.
